I guess that was pre-depression price. I live in Mexico, and I used to buy Cholula salsa in California, since I live near the border, it was les expensive to buy it imported in the US than to buy it in Mexico. Now with the devaluation it costs just about the same. around 2.50 USD, on each side of the border.

A little note: Cholula its the most expensive bottled salsa in Mexico. (I think its because of the wooden cap)Most other brands hover around 1 USD. But I think this one is worth it. My favorite food is eggs sunny side up, and a sprinkle of cholula, and a couple slices of ham lightly fried in oil.

For the adventurous who likes mexican junk food, like chicharrones, potato chips or churritos (fried, extruded corn)... You should try La Valentina, it spices snacks perfectly.

Hi, We used to bring back to Canada bottles and bottles of Cholula from Chapala, in our suitcases - until we found it in our local grocer store. Now instead of paying $1.00 for a bottle we have to pay $6.00 for a bottle - but we save on the airfare!
Enjoy!
