What We Mean by Authentic Mexican Food

Our definition of Authentic Mexican Food is – Food similar to what you would find served in Mexico in someone’s home or in a restaurant.

If you notice we said similar and not exactly the same. We are not sticklers for 1000% accuracy in every dish. Close enough is good enough for us. Mexican food should be fun. You shouldn’t have to be worried that your friends won’t ever speak to you again because you made your salsa in a blender and not using a molcajete.

Mexican food served in the U.S. or Canada at chain restaurants oftentimes doesn’t really have much in common with Mexican food served in Mexico. I have no gripes with these restaurants and some of them I enjoy eating at but the style of food they serve isn’t what MexicanFoodie.com is about.

Mexican Food is About Sharing

Sharing meals in Mexico is very important. People rarely eat alone. Sharing your meal greatly adds to the experience and sharing is the extra-tasty secret ingredient in Mexican food. Really!

If you want to make sure your Mexican meal tastes better, guaranteed, invite some people over to enjoy it with you. If you are cooking alone, make some extra portions and take them to school or work to share with your friends.

It might sound hokey, but we promise you when you share your meal it will always taste better. If you don’t believe us, just stop a second and think about why Thanksgiving dinner tastes so good. You see!
